Can you spare some time to volunteer at Woodchester Mansion’s open days?

The unfinished gothic masterpiece is set in a secluded valley near Nympsfield and runs regular open days so visitors can look around the mansion.

“We rely on volunteers to open the mansion to the public – our open days are almost entirely manned by volunteers,” said Liz Davenport, Volunteer Recruitment Co-ordinator.

Woodchester Mansion runs regular open days staffed by volunteers.

“We need people to welcome visitors, sell tickets (using till and card machine), take shop sales and do guided tours. Visitors are ferried between the car park and Mansion in our minibus, and drivers (aged 25 to 75) are needed for this.

“All volunteers have training on the job, working alongside an existing volunteer until they’re happy to do the task independently. For regular volunteers the rota is flexible, they just sign up online for the days that suit.

“We are open from April 1st to the end of October on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 5pm. Our volunteers arrive about 10.30am and finish around 5.15pm,” added Liz.

Anyone interested in volunteering should email info@woodchestermansion.org.uk or call 01453 861541.
