Circus time with a twist at Cotswold Playhouse

Aylmers Circus returns to The Cotswold Playhouse from Friday, July 4-6, with its newest spectacle, Dancing Queen – a disco-inspired celebration from the 70s.

The show stars Nancy Trotter Landry, best known from Giffords Circus, who brings her hilarious clowning to the dance floor. Alongside mesmerising acrobatics, including tightwire feats, the breathtaking Cyr wheel, and the captivating art of hair hanging, as well as daring chair balancing, and plenty of sequins. Dancing Queen is set to be the show of the summer!

“It’s a celebration of the disco era, but it’s also a reminder of joy and freedom,” says Harvey Aylmer.

“This show was born from a dream to create magical experiences that inspire people of all ages. I can’t wait to share this show with Stroud.”

Aylmers Circus is the vision of Harvey Aylmer, a Gloucestershire-born producer and storyteller. Driven by a passion for blending theatre and circus arts, Aylmers Circus brings the magic of classic entertainment to modern audiences with a fresh, contemporary flair.

Harvey’s circus journey began at the age of 10 when he transformed his garden into a circus to raise money for charity. His fascination with the big top led him to write to Nell Gifford, asking how he could join her at Giffords Circus.

Under her guidance, he found his way into the circus, where he spent three years working whilst also juggling two apprenticeships. He worked under the acclaimed director Cal McCrystal, whose expertise in physical comedy and theatrical storytelling helped shape Harvey’s vision.

Inspired by this experience, he founded Aylmers Circus in 2024 – a creative venture that fuses theatrical elegance with the timeless magic of the circus.

Since then, Harvey has worked with prestigious companies such as Cirque du Soleil and Giffords Circus before furthering his studies in Theatre Production at Bath Spa University.
