Cotswold Cogfest returns for a cycling spectacular.
Cogfest launches once again from Minchinhampton Primary Academy on Sunday, May 22nd.
Cogfest is now well established in the cycling calendar as a great day out for every kind of cyclist. For keen cyclists there a two fully signed road routes (‘sportives’ to the more committed riders) of 60 miles and 30 miles, along quiet country lanes around this beautiful part of the Cotswolds. With a caked-up feed station in the car park of The Crown Inn, Cerney Wick. Pre-registration online gets the best prices; on-the-day registration is available.
For families there is ‘Ride the Common’. A marshalled and sign-posted route around the stunning Minchinhampton Common, suitable for pretty much everyone, it’s really pretty flat.
For people looking to de-clutter, or ever re-clutter, there is the Bike Jumble. Get a seller’s pack, and make some money selling your old bikes, scooters, and other cycling stuff, or just come along and buy more bike gear. Whilst you’re here you can tuck into freshly cooked bacon rolls, tea and coffee; all locally sourced, and with veggie alternatives.
Sportive sign-on is from 8am, with first riders leaving around 8:30am. Ride the Common, Bike Jumble and everything else starts at 10am. Our team of mechanics will be standing by to sort out any last-minute issues.
Support has been gratefully received from our partners: Henry’s Coffee shop, Taylors’ Butchers, Hobbs House bakery, Independent Bikeworks in Cirencester, Just Ride the Bike and The Crown Inn at Cerney Wick.
Dr Dave Land, Event Director said: “The team are excited to be back for 2022, with our favoured early date of the cycling calendar. We’re all looking forward to delivering a great day out of the bike for everyone – from the lycra-lovers to the tandem tourers to the newbies, and everyone in between.
“We’re particularly keen to see new cyclists joining in, so if you’ve only just started riding, maybe due to lockdown, then we’d love to see you; you’ll be well supported in the friendliest event in the region. Come and ride, enjoy the scenery and the friendliness and earn yourself that slice of delicious home-made cake”.
