Cotswold Player’s actress Alice Dillon is rarely off stage in this week’s production of “Faustus That Damned Woman” at the Playhouse on Parliament Street, writes Nick Brunger.
The production is a reimagining of the classic medieval tale of Dr Faustus who sells himself to Satan in return for earthly powers during his lifetime.
In writer Chris Bush’s version, the central character is Johanna Faustus who tries to summon the Devil to find out if her mother, who was hanged as a witch, really did sign away her soul to him.
In the course of her adventures Johanna travels through time and far into the future in her quest to take on the Devil and win.
With an age-appropriate warning, “Faustus That Damned Woman” is at Stroud’s Cotswold Playhouse from Tuesday 19th– Saturday 23rd November with tickets priced at £16 and available from www.cotswoldplayhouse.co.uk.
