Father’s inspiring mission to honour wife and help save others from rare disease

A father-of-four is hoping to turn personal tragedy into hope for other families by raising £5,000 for research into a rare and devastating disease that claimed the life of his wife.

Sam Aldridge has launched a JustGiving campaign in memory of his wife, who died from haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) – a little-known but life-threatening condition that affects the immune system.

Explaining why he has started the fundraiser, he said: “Very sadly I lost my wife Sasha and the mother of our four children to a rare disease called HLH.

“I’m hoping to raise money for research into this awful disease in the hope that other families won’t have to endure the heartbreak we have.

“I’d also love to raise awareness of what is a little-known condition.”

The fundraiser has a target of £5,000, with all proceeds going towards research into HLH and efforts to improve understanding of the disease.
