A concert originally planned for March 2020 will finally take place this month. The concert by psychedelic rockers Flamingods was originally conceived in November 2019 as part of the celebrations for Stroud’s Sound Records’ second birthday.
Just a week before the original concert at the SVA Goods Shed it was cancelled as the country edged towards the first Coronavirus lockdown.
The concert was then rearranged post-pandemic for July 2022. Again, just weeks before the concert a family member of one of the band was taken seriously ill, and again the concert was cancelled.
Determined to bring the band to Stroud, Sound Records owner Tom Berry persevered to confirm the gig for a third time – this time for the shop’s fifth birthday celebrations.
The concert will finally take place on Saturday, November 18th, including a full support bill including SVA’s Mojam Collective and DJ sets from YouYou and Moina Moin.
Tom said: “I saw Flamingods live in 2019 and was determined to bring them to Stroud. It’s been a long and difficult road but they’re finally coming and we’re so excited to welcome them on the final date of their UK tour.
“We’ve deliberately kept ticket prices as low as we can so that as many people as possible can come and see them as well as help us celebrate our big birthday!”
Flamingods’ lead singer Kamal Rasool said: “This show has been building up for years and we can’t wait to finally get down and play our euphoric desert psychedelia with the good peeps of Stroud.
“We’ll be celebrating both Sound Records’ birthday and my own birthday which happens to be on the same day and since it’s the final day of our run, we’ll be all warmed up and ready to go all out with you all.”
Tickets for Sound Records’ fifth Birthday at SVA Goods Shed are now available for £15 (£12 concessions) at www.sva.org.uk
