Government issues wildfire warning as messages sent to mobile phones

MOST READ

The Government has issued a stark wildfire warning, with people being urged to take extreme care as the risk of wildfires remains very high nationally.

Residents, landowners and visitors are being warned against activities that could start a fire, including the use of disposable barbecues, firepits, garden incinerators and fireworks.

The warning is being shared with the public through messages and official alerts, urging people to understand the serious risk posed by even a small flame.

A fire can spread rapidly in dry conditions, potentially putting lives, homes, businesses and emergency responders at risk.

People are being urged to:

  • Avoid any activity that could cause a fire.
  • Follow official wildfire warnings and updates.
  • Report any signs of fire immediately by calling 999.

The Government says people should remain vigilant and act responsibly while the wildfire risk remains high.
