Stroud Judo star Harry Lovell-Hewitt claimed silver at the Rome European Open.
Lovell-Hewitt, who claimed Commonwealth Games Bronze in August, said: “It feels great to get a second open medal this year, the first being in Bulgaria a few weeks ago and then this result in Rome gives me a big push in the world rankings and a lot of confidence that I can beat the tops boys going forward.
“I also take confidence in that I had a very close fight with the former world champ and Olympic silver medalist Asley Gonzalez, so that shows me I’m heading in the right direction.”
The former Archway student was nurtured by Stroud Judo Club coach Rich Neale.
Three times a national champion, Lovell-Hewitt now has his mind firmly set on the World championships in Qatar from May 7th-14th and qualification for the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
