A man has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A48 near Minsterworth earlier today, Thursday.

Emergency services were called shortly after 12.50pm to the collision which involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a blue Mercedes B180.

The driver of the Astra, a 51-year-old man from Coleford, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

The two occupants of the Mercedes have been taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where their conditions are described as serious.

The A48 between Elton Corner and Highnam Roundabout remains closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken to police are asked to provide information by calling 101 and quoting incident 228 of 11 April.
