Popular pub handed five-out-of-five food hygiene rating

A popular Brimscombe pub has been handed a new five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

The top marks were handed out to the renowned Ship Inn following an assessment from the Food Standards Agency (FSA), carried out by Stroud District Council.

Landlord Wesley Birch said: “Our team have smashed it with a hygiene rating of five – couldn’t be prouder to work with each and every one of them.”

A spokesperson for Stroud District Council said: “We’re proud of our great tenants who keep the pub at the heart of the community ship-shape at all times.

“We champion local businesses that lead on environmental good practice & support them to grow, keeping wealth in the district, strengthening local supply chains & offering rewarding local jobs.

“Our Food Safety Officers are responsible for inspecting around 1,200 food business in the Stroud district, helping keep standards high & residents safe. The food hygiene rating scheme is run in partnership with Food Standards Agency where you’ll find all the ratings – well worth checking before you eat.”
