Ebullient Chalford manager Ben Powell admitted he was as high as a kite after his side were crowned champions at title rivals Brockworth Albion.

Goals in each half from Jack Hughes and Ryan Harry saw Chalford claim the title with three games to spare against a Brockworth side who saw keeper Ben Riddleston red-carded on 26 minutes.

Speaking to Stroud Times after today’s result, Powell beamed: “I’m little bit lost for words. After such a tough run, and tired legs – I thought we would struggle, but the boys were excellent from first whistle to last – we were front foot and we more than deserved the victory.”

Powell lauded the mindset of the champions throughout the season: “A couple kitted up with injuries and got through it. I’m massively proud of the group and the run we’ve been on with fixtures and having to get through it – nobody has shied away from anything.

“The back four were excellent, Adam Thomas another clean sheet – a cracking day for the club and I’m as high as a kite.”
