Robbie Savage returns to former club to sign Macclesfield trio

Forest Green boss Robbie Savage has raided his former club Macclesfield, capturing Laurent Mendy, Tre Pemberton, and Neil Kengni for undisclosed fees.

The trio featured heavily in Macclesfield FC’s Northern Premier League title and arrive with coach John McMahon, who was announced earlier today.

Defender Mendy, 28, spent four seasons with the Silkmen between 2021-2025, and featured in every league match last campaign.

Pemberton signs following two successful campaigns with Macclesfield FC – racking up 44 and 43 appearances in respective seasons.

The 26-year-old right-sided player came through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers before joining Stoke City. Spells at FC United of Manchester and Stafford Rangers followed.

Kengni, 25, was named in the Premier Division Team of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign. The left-sided player previously had spells at Rochdale, Stalybridge and Marine.
