Storm Eunice: amber weather warning

Storm Eunice is approaching with rain developing this evening and in the early hours of Friday.

An amber weather warning for wind is currently in place for Gloucestershire.

The Met Office have put together some essential information which will help minimise the impact of the gales due to hit Gloucestershire on Friday.

Prepare for flooding

Storm Eunice is forecast to cause a tidal surge along Severn and Wye Estuary.

The tidal surge is possible Friday morning, and the Environment Agency is urging people to take steps to protect themselves and their property. Flooding is possible from Avonmouth and up the Severn into Gloucestershire and along the Wye from Chepstow to Monmouth.

Please familiarise yourself with our flood guide, which provides information on what to do before, during and after a flood.

Driving in severe weather

Nine out of ten weather-related deaths and serious injuries on the roads take place in the rain. From high winds, strong sunlight and fog to snow and ice, all weathers can present different challenges both for keeping the travel networks open and for those navigating through the difficult conditions. Take a look at these top tips about driving in severe weather from the Met Office.

Keep updated with road closures in Gloucestershire and always check the roads before you travel.

Report fallen trees or debris on the roads using our ‘Report It’ page. If a highways issue poses an immediate danger to public safety please call our emergency number 08000 514 514.
