Stroud’s ‘celebrity cat’, Peaches, well known for her extensive travels in and around the town, has been injured and has a suspected broken pelvis.
Peaches, believed to be three years old, has a Facebook page with 2,400 followers which chronicles her adventures. On Thursday she returned home injured, believed to have been hit by a car and unfortunately she doesn’t have pet insurance, so a fundraising page has been set up to cover vet fees.
A message on the fundraising page says: “Sadly, Peaches has been hit by a car. Been to the vet today and have spent £849 – thanks for the donations so far. Peaches needs to return to vets tomorrow, when her x-rays will be reviewed, there is a definite fracture, possibly two.
“The vet advised that she is 99 per cent certain that Peaches will need to be operated on and has estimated £2000-£3000. Unfortunately, Peaches is not insured and I do not the have funds to cover these costs right now, with Christmas around the corner. I know times are hard for everyone but even the smallest donation would be a huge help and hopefully Peaches will be back out in the community, bringing joy to everyone again.”
Charlotte Brown told Stroud Times: “Peaches frequently went missing for days at a time and her owner reached out to the community as a way of keeping tabs on her.
“She frequents many local businesses, even Tesco. Peaches loves to get into people’s cars and has been collected from Bristol and Gloucester!
“Peaches is well known to Stroud local Police, who have found her when missing and taken her too the station to keep safe, for her owner to collect.”
Donations to the page currently stand at £2,328 of the £3,000 target.
