Gloucestershire County Council will offer support to young people on GCSE Results Day for anyone that would like further advice after receiving their results.

The Education team at the council’s Employment and Skills Hub have organised drop-in sessions to offer guidance to young people who may need additional support after receiving their results on Thursday, August 21.

These sessions are designed for anyone who may be uncertain about their next steps, would like further advice, or needs to reconsider their educational or career pathway following unexpected results.

The sessions are informal and drop-in based, so no booking is required.

The sessions will be held between 11am and 3pm on Thursday August 21 and Friday August 22 at Redwood House Stroud, Gloucester Library, Coleford Library, Cheltenham Library and Cirencester Library

If a young person would prefer to speak to someone over the phone, or if attending in person is not possible, they are welcome to contact the Youth Support Team to arrange a 1:1 telephone support session. The Youth Support Team can be contacted by emailing YSTOpportunitySupport@gloucestershire.gov.uk and indicating your name, age and number you’d like to be contacted on. Alternatively, the team can be contacted on 01452 324 371.

Cllr Linda Cohen, Cabinet member responsible for Education and Skills at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Whatever, you achieve in your GCSE results, remember you still have opportunities and choices. Deciding what to do next can often be daunting and like most things it’s a lot easier if you can talk through the options before making a decision. We’re here to help.

“These drop-in sessions are there to support anyone who may need guidance or advice following their results.

“There is no need to book and I would encourage any young people who need additional support to have a conversation with one of the team.”
