tALKSPORT pundit insists Vince has the last laugh in the wake of Edwards’ Watford sacking

With a section of Forest Green fans clamouring for the return of former boss Rob Edwards, former Crystal Palace owner and talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan insists Dale Vince will be having the last laugh following his departure from Watford.

Edwards was sacked yesterday along with assistant Richie Kyle after just 10 games of the 2022/23 season, with the Hornets just six points off the automatic play-off places.

Edwards was only appointed by the Championship club in the summer after controversially leaving Forest Green, where he got them promoted to League One last season in his first attempt.

Jordan told talkSPORT: “I’m not saying it’s ideal. The only person who will be particularly smiling at this is Dale Vince. I don’t think he was particularly impressed when he decided to leave Forest Green.

“It is ironic how the bottle spins. You think the grass is greener elsewhere and it’s not.”

Vince was outraged when Watford approached Edwards last summer without permission, saying: “We had no contact from Watford, they advised Rob not to tell us, specifically. That doubles down on the deceit. Deceit is part of a culture that comes from the top.”

Former West Ham boss Slaven Billic has taken Edwards’ job at Vicarage Road.
