Great Western Railway is gearing up to transport up to 55,000 extra racegoers to this year’s Cheltenham Festival, with a major boost in services across the four-day event.
The festival takes place today, Tuesday to Friday, March 13.
A queuing system will be in place at Cheltenham Spa station to ensure safe boarding of both the shuttle bus service to the festival site, and trains home afterwards, especially during peak evening departure times 1800 and 2000.

Cheltenham Spa Station Manager Chloe Coglan said: “We’re delighted to welcome racegoers back for another fantastic festival. With thousands of extra seats and 42 GWR trains, as well as those provided by our colleagues at CrossCountry, we’re ready to get people there and back safely.
“Please do buy your connecting bus ticket before you arrive, allow extra time for the return journey, and check your last train home, especially if you’re travelling from further afield.”
