The next sale at John Rolfe Auctions will be held on July 8th and 9th at Babdown near Tetbury.
Auctioneer and owner John Rolfe is excited to showcase his latest sale – title The Summer of LOVE. John said: “We have 850 lots, lovingly put together to be sold over two days from Saturday, July 8th and Sunday, July 9th, with a chance to bring the love to our view day of Friday, 7th with bubbles and canapes in the evening from 5-9pm, a chance to have a look at who we are and what we do and what we love.”
John’s eclectic mix has certainly captured the imagination of the public as his business goes from strength-to-strength: “It has been a whirlwind start to our life here in Tetbury. Our previous sale was our biggest and best yet with over 1,000 lots going under the hammer at a 95 per cent sale rate, we broke our sale total record and that has allowed us to expand our premises and our staff.”
Joining the team at John Rolfe Auctions is junior auctioneer James Hulbert and at only 25, he has spent his working life in auctions and antiques and has a wealth of experience in furniture, reclamation, watches and luxury goods.
John has also brought in Mark Weyman, who is head porter. He has a keen eye for pottery, military and most of all quality and is described by John as one of the ‘nicest blokes in Gloucestershire’.
John added: “We have some seriously special things in our next sale our personal favourites are a Rolex Datejust 41 watch with box and papers, it has come to us privately at no reserve and has barely if ever been worn.
“We have a distinctive studio pottery figural group by renowned master potter John Maltby whose stock has never been higher and an incredibly rare 19th century bronze canon dated 1856 linked to The Treaty of Paris, other highlights include a substantial piece of The Berlin Wall that the vendor brought back as a souvenir in 1991.”

A substantial piece of the fallen Berlin Wall, carved with a brutalist panel and further painted decoration upon a plinth stand, 127cm high, the vendor purchased this in Berlin in 1991.
Impressive 19th century bronze cannon on a cast iron stand with wheels and traces of original paint, cast inscription ‘Peace 1856’ and ‘Trust in Providence and Keep Your Powder Dry’, 38cm high x 84cm long and 31cm wide.
