Today’s 106-mile Stage seven of the Tour of Britain is the first to have taken place entirely within the county, using the same route that was planned for last year prior to the race’s cancellation.

Starting in Tewkesbury and finishing in Gloucester, the peloton sped through Stroud at around 3pm as temperatures nudged 30 degrees Celsius. Dozens watched from Cainscross Roundabout as riders passed Tricorn House.

A breakaway group of four riders, led by Ineos Grenadiers’ Ben Turner led the pack by 50 seconds as they swept over Selsley Common, through Dudbridge and across the Cainscross Roundabout on their way to the A46 via Stratford Road.

Race leader Wout van Aert was denied victory as Rasmus Tiller took the stage win at Gloucester Docks. Tomorrow’s final stage, in Wales, starts at Margam Country Park and finishes in Caerphilly.
