Five Valleys Ultimate Frisbee is inviting newcomers to try out the fast-moving sport.
It’s sometimes described as a cross between netball and American football – with lots of running, throwing and catching.
A non-contact sport, the emphasis is on fair play, with no referees, even at the highest level.
Five Valleys Ultimate is the first frisbee club in Stroud. It started in 2021 when a resident invited people to join her to try out a new game and have fun. Now it has grown to become one of the most inclusive sports clubs you will experience, with ages ranging from six to 60 years old, and abilities ranging from complete beginners who’ve never played team sport to experienced ex-GB internationals.

Hels Viviers saw the game while passing by and decided to give it a go: “The welcoming and buoyant atmosphere reassured me that I had done the right thing. The next week I was making new friends and playing a sport that I enjoyed for its community and family spirit.”
Hels is now one of the coaches and says being a coach has given her the pleasure of unlocking an enjoyment in team games that many have never had.
There will be a beginner’s session on Sunday, May 17th at 2pm at Rodborough Community Hall.
Regular sessions are open to anyone, and new people turn up all the time. These are at 3-5pm every Sunday, or Wednesday evenings from 6pm.
