What’s on in Stroud this week: 27 July – 3 August 2026
It’s a busy week of events in and around the Stroud district, as Stroud Beer Festival kicks off at the Sub Rooms, Nailsworth’s Pi in the Sky Festival returns and Gloucestershire Vintage and Country Extravaganza returns to South Cerney Airfield.
Elsewhere, the Museum in the Park continues its bumper summer season of events with a Roman day and a park-inspired art exhibition, Minchinampton Churches Together throw a weekend of circus events to coincide with the arrival of Giffords Circus on Minchinhampton Common and the Ship Inn Community Space in Stonehouse hosts its annual regatta.

Regular and one off events
- Spend a Roman day at the Museum in the Park – Wed 29 Jul, 10.30am – 3.30pm
The team at Stroud’s best museum host a special family-friendly Roman day this Wednesday, including the chance to meet a real Roman or an Iron Age Briton. Plus, learn how to fight like a Roman soldier and make your own Roman-inspired paper mosaic or mini clay pot to take home.
- Spend a weekend of wonder in Minchinhampton – Fri 31 Jul – Sun 2 Aug
To coincide with Gifford’s Circus’ move annual Minchinhampton Common residency, Churches Together in Minchinhampton hosts a special Weekend of Wonder, featuring a brand new circus show curated by writer and director Andy Bewley and Claudia Weston of School of Larks. The weekend includes circus performances, live music, art and interactive activities, plus a special church service inside the Giffords Circus Big Top on Sunday at 9am.
- Drink ales and ciders at Stroud Beer Festival – Fri 31 Jul – Sun 2 Aug
Central Stroud’s weekend-long free-entry beer festival returns to the Sub Rooms forecourt, helping to raise funds to support this important Stroud music and arts venue. Expect artisan beers and ciders, street food and music from Dryadic, Marsupial Soup, The Cash Cows and more.
- Ride the train to Sharpness – Fri 31 Jul – Sun 2 Aug, 9am – 5pm
150 years ago, the first eager travellers rode a passenger train to Sharpness, but more than 60 years ago the line closed to passengers. This weekend, the first passenger services will run on the Sharpness branch line since it closed to passengers in 1964, with the Vale of Berkeley Railway running special trains all weekend.
- Attend the Pi in the Sky Festival – Sat 1 Aug, 11:30am
Ruggers Green Barn on the outskirts of Nailsworth once again hosts this special fundraiser in aid of Practical Intelligence, the non-profit that runs the Nailsworth Community Workshop and Pi Guitars. The event will feature bands across two stages, plus this year onsite camping for the first time.
- Watch the Ship Inn Regatta – Sun 2 Aug, 11am
The team behind the Ship Inn Community Space in Stonehouse continue their reprisal of the lively annual regatta begun by the Ship’s landlord Robert Larkin in the 1890s. Stroud Valley Canoe Club will be on hand with a special taster event for those aged eight and over, plus music, a barbecue, stalls and family fun.

- Celebrate Stroud’s Park Life – Sat 1 – Mon 31 Aug
The members of the Stroud Artists Cooperative have spent a year studying and creating works inspired by life and activities in Stroud’s local parks. The result is a month-long exhibition at Museum in the Park, starting this Saturday, featuring paintings, photography, collage, prints, ceramics and glass inspired by the parks and green spaces of the Stroud area.

Stroud Vintage Transport & Engine Club return to host their annual extravaganza at South Cerney Airfield, near Cirencester. Expect steam engines, classic cars, trucks, historic buses, tractors, motorcycles, vintage caravans and more, including music, falconry and rural skills.
