Prominent Stroud business leader Tony Davey has revealed his sadness at the impending closure of menswear fashion outlet Cordell’s.
Based at the Five Valleys Shopping complex since August 2021, Cordell’s menswear was founded in Devon back in 2018 and expanded into Monmouth in 2019, but is set to close at the end of next month.
Chair of Stroud Chamber of Trade, Mr Davey told Stroud Times: “It’s sad to see Cordell’s is leaving the town, not least as they stocked so much of what the public often state they want.
“Not only were they an excellent supplier of suit hire for weddings and special celebrations, but they had a good selection of smart menswear and business-wear.
“Given the quantity of people on social media who are now commenting they did not know about Cordell’s until now, it is a prime case for the need to head out into your local town and discover what is there – often on routes you may not usually take. If you do not use it, you do risk losing it.”
A spokesperson said: “It’s with a very heavy heart that we sadly announce that we have decided to close our Stroud store.
“The store will close within the next 4-6 weeks and all items are now reduced.
“We advise anyone with gift vouchers or store credit notes to pop in within the next few weeks.
“We would like to thank our many loyal customers who have supported us and look forward to seeing you at our Monmouth store in the future.”
