Driver suffers smoke inhalation following vehicle fire

The A46 south of Nailsworth, near the Tipputts Inn, was closed this afternoon with police and a fire appliance in attendance.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 1.56pm to a transit van on fire and sent one fire engine from Stroud.

“Crews used two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus to put out the fire. The vehicle was 100 per cent damaged by the fire and a man suffered smoke inhalation. The stop time was 2.48pm.”

The road has now reopened.
