The Metropolitan Police have charged former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood, 68, with 15 sexual offences involving seven women, including one from Stroud.

The charges include four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault. Alleged offences span 1983 to 2016, including an incident in Stroud in 2010.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, from the Metropolitan Police Service, said: “It takes courage to come forward and report allegations of this nature. The women who have done so have put their trust in us and we continue to provide them with all available support.

“Our investigation remains open and we’d encourage anyone who has been impacted by this case, or anyone with information, to come forward and speak with us.”

Westwood has previously denied all allegations of sexual misconduct made against him.

When the first accusations surfaced in April 2022, his representative issued a statement saying he “strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing”.

Westwood is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 10 November 2025.

Police have confirmed the charges follow a review by the Crown Prosecution Service and will not comment further while proceedings are ongoing.
