Nailsworth Music Society strikes a chord

It was a busy weekend for Nailsworth Music Society, as both bands were in action across the community.

The weekend started with a group of players from Nailsworth Silver Band performing at Sherston Boules Festival. The group entertained players and spectators with a range of upbeat pieces, including Sweet Caroline, I’m A Believer and a very popular ABBA Medley.

The Academy Band, which recently celebrated its first birthday, performed at Stonehouse Canal Festival on Sunday. They performed a lively set to an enthusiastic audience with pieces such as Pirates of the Caribbean and James Bond. Young cornet player Jonti played a beautiful solo of Edelweiss from The Sound of Music.

Music Society Chairman, Pete Dillon, conducted both performances and was delighted to be part of the weekend. ‘It’s absolutely amazing that we are in a position to send out two bands to perform at such a high level. It’s been wonderful to see the Academy Band continue to grow this year. I’m excited for the future of our Society!’

Both bands will be performing sets at the Music Society’s annual concert on Sunday 12th July, 4pm at St Mary’s Church, North Woodchester.
