Oakridge Parochial School recently celebrated being 150 years old.
The small village school marked this special occasion with a number of events, including holding a Victorian Day, where the children were taught in the same style as would have been the case back in the mid-nineteenth century.
Parents and the village community also came along to reminisce of their time at the school, with plenty of tea and (Victoria) sponge cake on offer.
The school also held a service of celebration at the village church, where the children compared past and current times.
It was wonderful to welcome the local community along to join in with singing modern and more traditional hymns including ‘All things bright and beautiful’.
There were lots of memories and even included stories from the old school log
book.
