Stroud High School’s Under 15 Handball Team were, this week, crowned National Champions at the English School’s Handball National Finals in Nottingham.
Having won at county and regional level, the team won all 4 of their group games before battling through 3-2 in a nail-biting semi final against Putney High School, where goalkeeper Olivia King was in sensational form.
In the final, they faced Oasis Academy, defeating them 8-4.
Curriculum Team Leader for PE June Fletcher said: “I am so proud of the girls, not only have they performed at such a high level, but as a team they have conducted themselves brilliantly.
“Not many people get to call themselves national champions, they have achieved something very special. The whole squad deserves equal praise for their passionate performances.”
The squad were led by co-captains Zuzie Denis and Freya Donaghay, and included Lizzie Hill, Annie Moore, Esme Kelly, Tilly Holmes, Holly Mason, Illy Potten, Amy Barrett, Charlotte Bradley and Olivia King.
