Stroud High School presented a stunning rendition of the timeless classic, Les Misérables.
This school edition production showcased the talent and dedication of students and staff, bringing Victor Hugo’s masterpiece to life on stage. Les Misérables, set against the backdrop of 19th Century France, tells the story of redemption, love, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Directed and produced by Chloe Caselton, Curriculum Lead for Drama, the cast and crew worked tirelessly to deliver a performance that left audiences spellbound. Musical accompaniment was provided by a live band of students, who played almost non-stop throughout the whole of the show.
Chloe said: “I’ve dreamed a dream of putting on this show since I performed in it myself at school many moons ago, but it wasn’t until I heard the talents of the school orchestra that I knew it was possible, under the fantastic music department’s guidance. The cast, musicians and crew were so dedicated to making this the best show we could. It really was like working with professionals and I’m so proud of them all.”
Musical Director and Curriculum Lead for Music, Oliver Poole, added: “It has been such a pleasure to work with all the students involved in the production of Les Misérables. Their rehearsals and performances have provided experiences that I personally will treasure, and we are all exceptionally proud of what the students have achieved. Congratulations to all those in the cast, band and backstage team!”
The production received rave reviews from attendees, who praised the talent of the students, the professionalism of the production, and the overall experience of witnessing such a powerful story unfold on stage.
