Wilder joins forces with The Long Table in unique partnership

Renowned restaurant Wilder, in Nailsworth, will be throwing open its doors in a ground breaking collaboration with social enterprise The Long Table.

On Thursday, June 13th chef Matt Beardshall will host the event at his family-run Wilder restaurant in Market Street from 6-8.30pm. There will be no bookings taken in advance and food will be first-come-first-served, until 8:30pm or until the food runs out. Any food left over will not be wasted, it’ll be distributed to people that’ll appreciate it and there will be a simplified drinks offer on the evening.

Wilder has established a reputation for its excellent food and events such as Champagne brunches and Wine Flights.

Tom Herbert, founder of The Long Table, told Stroud Times: “This is an exciting opportunity for people to experience the best of what The Long Table has to offer – a pay-as-you-can meal in Matt’s awesome space, with his great cooking.

“So, for one night, if that sounds like something you’d be interested in, we’d love people to experience both of our forms of hospitality because there’s a huge overlap – that’s seeing people having a great time and connect around food.

“It’s a world first – it’s new for both of us and the door is going to be thrown open, there’s no booking – it’s ‘first come first served’ and once it’s gone it’s gone.”

Chef Matt added: “I’ll be in the kitchen and Tom will be in the kitchen and running around everywhere else – it’s a team affair. For me, it’s about having our space open to everyone – that’s something The Long Table has done since day one – it’s something I feel Wilder could do more of.

“It’s the basics of hospitality – warm smiles, good food that fills you up, and getting some community going as well – it’s all about community.”

Letter to the editor: GlosWomen’s response to Dr Simon Opher’s article

Dear editor, it was good to see Simon Opher’s account of his meeting with Chrissie Lowery from the Night Angels - women working hard to provide front line support and, impressively, funding this themselves. We really admire and respect the women doing this important work.
