TV presenter Kate Garraway presented Longfield Community Hospice the ‘Support for Family and Carers Award’ at the Palliative and End of Life Care Awards in London.

The awards recognise and celebrate excellence in palliative and end-of-life care, nationally, paying tribute to organisations that provide high-quality, person-centred care to patients and their loved ones.

Longfield was also shortlisted for the ‘hospice team’ award in recognition of their work caring for dying people in the comfort of their own homes.

On collecting the award on behalf of Longfield, Katie Miller, Longfield’s Director of Hospice at Home said: “This achievement is a testament to the dedication, compassion, and hard work of every individual at Longfield Community Hospice. We couldn’t have achieved this without the continuous support of our staff, volunteers, and the families who trust us during their most difficult moments.”

Rebecca Draper, Senior Wellbeing Manager, who manages the Family and Carers Support Team added, “It’s great that we’ve won this award as it recognises the work of our complimentary therapists, counsellors, the family carer support coordinator and all of our colleagues who work with family members every day. We hope it will reassure family members and carers who are coming into our Wellbeing Centre that they will access excellent support that has been recognised nationally.”
