Youngsters playing for Minchinhampton Rangers YFC have received the perfect delivery thanks to a sports fund backed by legendary England bowler Darren Gough.
The former sportsman and winner of Strictly Come Dancing is ambassador for the £100,000 Gigaclear Rural Sports Club Fund, which supports grassroots teams based in rural communities across the broadband company’s full fibre network.
Minchinhampton Rangers YFC was established in 1998 and currently runs 22 teams for boys and girls from U5s up to the age of 17, including a girls-only U16 team.

It successfully applied to the fund to buy a set of new goals for the U13s (Bulls) team.
Minchinhampton Rangers’ Under-13s Coach Simon Gardner said he was grateful to the fund for its support. He said: “As a team we were faced with aging equipment that threatened our ability to train and compete. The team was in urgent need of new goals. Gigaclear’s timely intervention has not only secured the future of their matches but has also reinforced the vital role grassroots football plays in the local community.
“It’s been a game-changer for our team, ensuring we can keep playing and growing together.”
Fund ambassador Darren Gough said: “Since launching the fund, it has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support where it is needed most. It’s great to see so much kit and equipment being sent out to rural sports clubs such as Minchinhampton Rangers YFC and I wish them every success. I believe the fund is helping make a difference to players now and to the rural sports teams of the future.”
Minchinhampton Rangers is a friendly and competitive local youth football club. Its aim is to develop our players not only in their technical ability, but also in teamwork, discipline, leadership, respect and many other skills that will help them throughout their life.
More than 2,200 homes and businesses in Minchinhampton, Woodchester and Horsley are now able to access Gigaclear’s full fibre broadband offering ultrafast speeds up to 900Mbps.
