Painswick Music Society has again arranged four outstanding Saturday concerts in St Mary’s Church for its 77th season, starting on 18th March with a very welcome return by the internationally renowned clarinettist Emma Johnson and pianist John Lenehan.
Since winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year in 1984, Emma has been a constant inspiration to many aspiring musicians, and her recordings have sold over half a million copies covering a wide range of musical styles. This is reflected in her Painswick programme which includes works by Brahms, Dvorak and Finzi as well as a rousing Duke Ellington Medley for which she and John will be joined by the drummer Paul Clarvis.
The other concerts are by the celebrated tenor Mark Padmore and pianist James Baillieu on April 1st, the multi award-winning Heath Quartet on April 22nd and the leading Italian baroque specialists La Serenissima on May 6th. The concerts are at 3pm except for the last which is at 7pm as the date clashes with the Coronation,
